Johnson City man wanted for assault after football game in Tennessee | WJHL

Knoxville, Tenn. (WATE) — The University of Tennessee Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for a man who allegedly attacked a freshman after a football game in Tennessee.

Johnson City’s Mark Alexander Bowman is wanted on two counts of assault, one count of a crosswalk at a location other than a crosswalk and a traffic violation.

UTPD says Bowman is wanted in his alleged involvement when a student was punched in the face after a campus football game on Oct. 9. The UTPD says they are working with Washington County law enforcement to execute the warrants.

WATE 6 On Your Side reporter Elizabeth Kuebel spoke to the student on October 11 after the alleged attack.

Lydia Ernst said she was assaulted on campus right after Saturday’s football game. She told us that a man she didn’t know hit her several times. She said she was heading back to her dorm near Melrose and Volunteer Boulevard when a typical college football Saturday got spooky — fast.

“I just felt the punches and the next thing I know I’m in a woman’s arms,” Ernst said. “She comforts me, I see people getting out of their cars to come running to me and watch me. It was intense,” Ernst said.

“Nobody should get their hands on a woman, nobody should be violent anyway,” Ernst said. “I hope he will be brought to justice. I don’t wish anyone ill, but I hope he gets what’s right.
